Prayers adapted from Paul in Ephesians and Colossians
Heavenly Father,
We choose to put on the whole armor of God as outlined for us by the Apostle Paul at the direction of the Holy Spirit. And in Jesus’ name, we declare that our loins are girded about with truth.
We thank You that Your Word is truth. And as Jesus prayed, we are sanctified by the truth of Your Word and set apart unto You and Your purpose.
We put on the breastplate of righteousness. We thank You that we have righteousness and right standing with the Most High God because of the shed blood, the death, the burial, the resurrection, and the ascension of Jesus Christ.
And we thank You for the continual intercession made for us by our Lord, Savior, Mediator, and High Priest, Jesus.
We thank You for the atonement that has been made. And we thank You that our feet are shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
We are ready to do what You would have us do and go wherever You would have us go. We declare that we do not trip, stumble, or become tangled up along the way. This is our confession in the name of Jesus.
And we take up the shield of faith and, as directed by Your Word, we quench every fiery dart of the wicked one. We declare that every scheme, plot, assignment, tactic, strategy, and every attempt against us — whether spiritual, physical, financial, or any other threat — is crushed, thwarted, and brought to nothing in Jesus’ name.
You always cause us to triumph through Christ Jesus our Lord. And we declare that whatever the enemy has stolen from us in the past is returned sevenfold in Jesus’ name.
And we put on the helmet of salvation. Led by Your Spirit, Lord God, we instantly recognize and reject fear, doubt, unbelief, tension, turmoil, strife, discouragement, despondency, false arguments, temptations, and the deceptions of this world.
In Jesus’ name, we cast down imaginations and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and we bring every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
We thank You that You keep us in perfect peace because our minds are stayed upon You. You work within us to make sound decisions as we deal wisely in all the affairs of life.
And in the name of Jesus, we take the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and we pray always with all prayer and supplication. We watch therein with all perseverance for all saints.
We thank You for Your Holy Spirit, who leads and guides us into all truth and brings to our remembrance whatever Jesus has spoken to us. We thank You that the Holy Spirit shows us things to come and empowers us to be Your bold witnesses.
And we thank You, Lord, for Your angels who have charge over us and keep us in all our ways. They bear us up in their hands lest we dash our foot against a stone.
Lord, we declare that when we travel, we arrive safely and return safely without incident. At all times, in all places, and under all circumstances, we are watched over and protected by Your angelic host.
What You have led and directed us to do, we agree to obey and do unto You.
Your angels go with us and before us. As we cooperate with Heaven and walk in obedience, let all that we do prosper according to Your will, so that Your Kingdom and covenant are established and You alone receive all the glory.
Lord, bless this day and help us to learn, hear from You, and grow in You more and more.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
